What NOT to do to make your mascara less clumpy
Note: Trust me, this is from experience.
Now as some of you know, usually mascara can only be used for 4-6 months as it is a breeding ground for bacteria. Since mascaras have a liquid consistency and you use it on your eyes then put it back in the tube, certain kinds of bacteria may be thriving in there. And if you find it's kinda smelling a little funky, you better toss it. It's not worth the risk.
But if you find that you still have plenty of mascara , hasn't hit the mark of 6 months and isn't smelling like feet but is getting a little clumpy here's what to do to extend it for a few more uses before you buy a new tube.
1. Use oil
- Oils from Flowers
- Oils from nuts
- Oils from anywhere really, just make sure it's body oil/face oil
If you don't have one at your reach ( I don't really know about this but if you're that desperate ) you can use vegetable oil or cooking oil. I've seen tips on what to do if your mascara is clumpy which stated vegetable oil, and they said it worked just fine. Just don't think about fried chicken and fried fish whenever you wear your vegetable oil mascara.
2. Soak tube in hot water
You soak that sucker in hot water for 30 minutes or so to melt the clumps.Yeah.Oh yeahhh.Melt that.
3. Use eye drops { Not for waterproof mascaras }
Most obvious choice since eye drops are used for the eyes and therefore, safe. This, I have done and it does work, just make sure to put a drop at a time, mix then see if you can now use it. You don't want to make it too runny or it will never dry on your lashes. { Exaggerating, of course it'll dry, it's just gonna take forever }
Speaking of never drying lashes.
Here's what NOT to do if you want to make your mascara less clumpy.
NEVER PUT IN HOT WATER IN THE TUBE.
I think I was possessed when I did this. I dunno. I had a dumb moment. Give me a break.
You read that right, I put WATER in a WATERPROOF mascara. HA...{ I think I wanted to make something resembling a point here. Anyway } Now I can't use it, because it's too watery. It took 10 minutes (or more) to dry. Honestly. And I can only blame myself for this stupidity.
